A month after approving an urgency ordinance — good for 45 days and effective immediately — to prohibit medical marijuana dispensaries from opening in the city, the Guadalupe City Council is set to extend the ban.
On Tuesday, the council is expected to consider an extension of the restriction for 10 months and 15 days, with the possibility of a one-year extension after that.
The current moratorium is set to expire June 26.
A temporary prohibition through an ordinance will go through the city Planning Commission first for a review before returning to the council for formal adoption.
The city now has no regulations against a medical-marijuana dispensary within city limits. However, the temporary ban is a stopgap until a formal, permanent ordinance can be adopted.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers, 918 Obispo St.
